The nice people at Sunrice contacted me and asked if we’d like to try their new range of sweet flavoured rice cakes… seeing as I am already a fan of the savoury version I jumped at the chance to try them. It was also good timing because I was searching for a new toddler snack.
Taylor and I both have clear favourites, mine is caramel because it tastes sorta like caramel popcorn and Taylor seemed to prefer the honey
I was reading over the packet and saw a picture on the side as a serving suggestion and at that moment I felt like getting creative. I tried adding nutella and sprinkles, peanut butter and cranberries and banana.
They tasted pretty good with banana slices, but Taylor seemed to prefer them without any added extras – which is great news!
We will definitely be keeping an eye out for these at our local supermarket next grocery day.

I managed to get a few pictures between rounds of peek-a-boo

My mama got Taylor these adorable red Keds

This kid!
Last night at my parents place she accidentally head butted me and I let out a yelp.. she turns to her grandmas and says ‘oh no mummy crying’… then she proceeds to rub my arm and ask if i’m ok!
Tonight, I told her it was bedtime so she got up from her little table and chair, walked down the hallway and hopped into her bed, she lay down and rather bossily told me to turn off the light, after doing as I was told, I gave her a kiss on the forehead and she proceeded to blow me a kiss in return… something she does out the window every morning when I drive off to work.
and one other thing that is too cute/funny not to mention is that around these parts the remote control for the TV is known as the ‘TV troll’, very confusing the first time she said it but we are slowly deciphering her toddler accent!

I can’t believe that these pictures were taken almost two years ago! In a little over two weeks Taylor turns two. Hold me!
I wonder what happened to this striped top… I sorta want to wear it!

My wonderful mama helped Taylor choose some flowers, chocolates and draw a picture for me on mother’s day. These lovely anenome flowers are brightening up our kitchen and the chocolate and hugs from Taylor are keeping me happy until Kat gets back from an unexpected trip to Samoa. I wore this outfit to work… the boots are mine from witchery and the blazer from valleygirl… the top and jeans were poached from my sisters unwanted items bag that were on their way to the opportunity shop. score!
Taylor wore: jeggings/farmers and top/jk kids
We had a quiet weekend in after Taylor came down with a vomiting bug on Thursday night, by Mother’s Day I was feeling a little worse for wear so we spent the day hanging in the sun at my parents place.
Mama wore: jeans/tightrope, jandals/amazon, top/kmart, necklace/gifted
I was a wee bit naughty at the weekend and put a TV and DVD player in Taylor’s room to distract her while I unpacked boxes elsewhere. Finally after 1 month the repairs are done… I love having walls and carpet that don’t clash.. I think that’s the 3rd time i’ve mentioned that on le blog.
Dora makes a pretty good TV watching buddy – they were watching her cousin Diego! I absolutely adore these love-heart tights my mama got for T.. I think from Pumpkin Patch? The uggs are from No1 little boys section… I didn’t want pink or purple ones! and the cream tunic is from Kmart.. it’s not the most sensible colour for a spaghetti and felt pen loving toddler but golly gosh she looks cute!

Growing up I used to love trips to my Grandmas house, she always had yummy snacks for us to eat, and retro toys (belonging to my mum, aunties and uncles – there were 8 of them!) for us to play with and she made the best chicken pie in the whole world. Luckily she passed the recipe onto my mum so we got to eat chicken pie more often that just in the school holidays! It’s a pretty awesome winter dish, to be honest I had almost forgotten about it until I asked my mum what’s for dinner? (we’re staying there while earthquake repairs are done to our place). Her response “Grandmas Chicken Pie”. YUM! I thought what better way to record the recipe for future reference than to post about it on my blog! So we grabbed the ingredients, Taylor put on her jelly bean apron, grabbed her wooden spoon and we set to work.
Ingredients:
1 chicken
2 Tbsp flour
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup chicken stock
1 cup milk
Topping:
1 cup fresh bread crumbs
1 Tbsp onion soup mix and
2 Tbsp butter cubed.
Boil the chicken and break into pieces. Make a sauce with flour, butter, chicken stock and milk, and pour over chicken pieces in an ovenproof dish. Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over top. Brown in oven.
Taylor got a bit bored waiting for the pie to finish cooking…
I usually like to have mine with a side of mashed potatoes or cauliflower and steamed broccoli with peas!
I really liked this outfit. Since I downsize my wardrobe (slightly) I’m finding it much easier to get dressed in the mornings! It also helps that I borrowed/stole this necklace from my mum and it happens to go with everything I own and pulls outfits together perfectly.
My jeans and tops are from kmart and the blazer is from Valleygirl. I love the animal print lining! The whole outfit looked awesome with my knee high black boots.. which didn’t quite make it into the picture..
Some of the things that come out of her mouth surprise me:
Yelling from the other room: ‘Mum, Mum! Jess, Jess! Honey!!’
Sparkle! Sparkle = Spa pool (hot tub)
Colour = Yellow.. she’s got most other colours down pat, but ask her what colour something yellow is and she’ll tell you ‘colour’.
She’s still wearing size 2 clothes and size 6 shoes. Sleeping 12 hours (again!) from 8pm – 8am… preschool is slowly growing on her, which is good.. because mama felt so bad driving off to work on those days she burst into tears at the sight of the place.
it’s less than a month until she turns 2 and i’m sure the best is still yet to come!
Better late than never!

Taylor loves to play outside with her Dad. On this particular occasion they took a big blue ball to play with.. while Taylor was having a rest break and drink of water, Kat decided to kick the ball.. unfortunately instead of kicking it over the tree.. he kicked it into the tree. Miss Taylor was rather upset so poor Daddy had to spend 15 minutes throwing rocks at the tree to shake the ball loose! When it finally happened his success earned a round of applause.. which was short lived because a tantrum ensued shortly after when Taylor was told it was time to go home.

Taylor wore: jeans, top and shoes – kmart, tunic – a gift

Very impressed with these pictures.. all taken with my camera phone and no editing required.
